President Biden Sticks It to Trump with Hunter Pardon
Hunter Biden has been spared from Trump's retribution
Spot some bias? Here’s why…
On Saturday night, President Biden issued a full presidential pardon for his son, Hunter Biden.
In a public statement, Biden said he hoped “Americans will understand why a father and a President would come to this decision.”
Despite indignant MAGA news outlets and online trolls, President Biden stood firmly beside his son and his faith in the freedom of the justice system.
He rightly feels that the cases brought against his son Hunter were unwarranted and dangerously political. Biden knows that an emboldened Trump campaigned on a platform of revenge and retribution. As one of his final acts, Biden wanted to protect his loved ones from a vengeful felon in the White House.
Importantly, legal experts have long been dubious about the facts of the case of motivation behind it. The usual mitigating factors were sidelined by appointee judges and a standard plea deal torpedoed by Republicans.
The court largely ignored Hunter’s uniquely difficult life. The proud father of four only recently became sober after a decade of drugs and alcohol abuse fueled by the death of his brother Beau.
The miscarriage of justice surrounding those cases is why President Biden’s decision was upheld by leading Democrats.
“If you defended the 34x felon, who committed sexual assault, stole national security documents, and tried running a coup on his country…you can sit out the Hunter Biden pardon discussion,” Rep. Eric Swalwell said simply on X.
The pardon has sparked serious debate around upholding democracy and public institutions in the Trump era. President Biden has long expressed faith in the value of an independent justice system, and some question if the pardon means he’s going back on this.
However, experts also say that issuing a pardon was the only way to stand up for an independent judiciary. Denying Trump the ability to target his family is a rallying call to Americans that the justice system should never be weaponized.
Still, it’s a message that an increasingly autocratic Trump looks set to ignore.
Biden’s personal statement was straightforward but powerful. "There has been an effort to break Hunter — who has been five and a half years sober, even in the face of unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution. In trying to break Hunter, they’ve tried to break me — and there’s no reason to believe it will stop here. Enough is enough."
That’s the message that the majority of Americans took from the pardon. Enough is enough when it comes to bullying and abuse of power.
The MAGA powerbrokers have spent the last weeks crowing over their win and pushing agendas and nominees remniscent of Project 2025. It’s been a challenging time for Democrats, who were forced to reconcile with the loss of a historically strong candidate in Kamala Harris.
Still, future Democratic leaders believe the American people are pulling themselves together and getting ready to fight back.
They say President Biden set a brave example. Pardoning his son blunts Trump’s retribution plans and reminds Americans which party really stands for freedom and family.
Sure, Biden may have given Trump new ammunition to attack him with. But at least he managed a final parting shot.

In case you missed it, the biased lense for this was anti-Trump, pro-Biden, pro-Democrat. If you're confused why I'm writing all these biased articles, I'll reply to this comment with a linked explanation.
Overall, the lasting message of this article is that President Biden did the right thing and protected his son from a vengeful Trump.
How did I craft this narrative? Firstly, there was unobjective emotional characterization of the news, with descriptions of Biden as a "loving father".
I also made very sweeping assumptions about how the American people feel regarding the pardon with zero evidence provided. There were some pointed links back to Project 2025 and regular statements that Trump plans retribution (thus settling it as fact).
All in all, it was an enjoyable piece to write and I hope to read. Check out my other article on the Hunter Biden pardon for a very different take on events.

AN OPEN LETTER TO JOE BIDEN
Trump turned pardons into tools of corruption, shielding cronies, his family, and himself. Biden’s decision to pardon Hunter is a stand against the GOP's weaponization of justice and their disgusting proxy way against his presidency.
