I have to admit, that was a truly brutal day. At least I expected it to be close! I guess if people want to be fascist, it is what it is. It's just a helpless feeling, feeling bad for women, LGBT, other vulnerable groups and not being able to do anything about it.
In terms of the article, that was very good spin on support from minorities. Essentially, by focusing on which group Trump won, you could gloss over the increase in his support from different minority groups, hehe:)
Incidentally, there was a tweet from Stephen Miller about how they will "supercharge" the denaturalisation program. So we might well get a situation of:
"Excuse me, sir, your citizenship has been cancelled. Get on the bus, please!"
"But I voted for Trump!"
"Yes, sir, thank you for your support. Now get your ass on the bus!"
Haha very true Boris. I'm glad you appreciated the spin on minority support - I grappled with how best to portray that. No, you're absolutely right. Kamala might not have won but karma probably will!
100 percent! It's ironic that a lot of people who voted for him will cop it bad (and certainly a lot more than the "elites" they were striking out against by electing him).
Hey Michael, I definitely think Trump has a unique appeal which will be interesting to watch. He greatly outperformed his Senate and House candidates across the country (particularly with young men and Latino voters). I absolutely think there'll be a "passing of the torch" to someone in the Republican party (probably not DeSantis now that he's clashed with Trump so much). However, I don't think they can quite capture the MAGA movement in the same way since it is built up around that strongman appeal and unique personality of Trump.
Though, that's obviously just my two cents. Honestly, who knows what's going to happen next.
Trump didn’t win this election. His cult following is a large minority. He only won because of inflation during Biden’s term, the border crisis and using taxpayers money for students, immigrants and war. Millions of voters will regret their decision very quickly !
Although some of the points are valid, do you really think that another failed Trump economic presidency is significant to voters? You’re welcome to tell me a successful economic Republican presidency, but you might have to go back about 75 years. It’s not the economy, stupid.
It’s the ignorance, the cultism, and the prejudice.
I forgive you because I assume you don’t live in Florida, but they have successfully made the USA into Florida , just like their next president
Another really good point Michael. I agree that a truly successful economy is hardly the real focus (by many statistical benchmarks the US is in great shape but that's not how voters feel). Still, if there's a general economic failure under Trump that could cut into those numbers of Black, Latino and working class voters who have repeatedly said they don't like Trump but they do like his policies.
That being said, Trump is a bit of an invincible figure and I'm sure he'd find a way to leverage any economic situation to stoke support. It's like you said though, the real question is how his successor will handle his legacy in 2028. Right now, it's looking like it'll be JD Vance carrying the MAGA torch but honestly who knows.
How do we feel about this post-election coverage? Who else is pretty burned out?

Which will be a form of karma, I guess😅

That's pretty much all the we can hope for now, for these people to feel the error of their ways *fistbump* :)
I agree completely ! The only way to destroy the MAGA movement is go watch Trump destroy it!
It's only a matter of time now! A historic presidency will quickly become a repeat nightmare for all of us, including the hardcore MAGA believers.

Absolutely Boris, I think the reality of this election will become very real very fast.
And he won’t lose a voter.
You don’t think that’s a problem cause he can’t run again? They’ll just vote for DeSantis.

It's very possible David - I'll be watching the first round of job approval polls very closely!

( DeathSantis) promised

Honestly fair enough Brigitte. I say I’m burned out but then I keep on reading all the election coverage and going back to the results map!
